This site is for anybody with an old map. Maybe you're a collector with a diverse gallery of original antique maps spanning many centuries. Maybe you're a hobbyist with a few nice prints. Today's map comes to us from the collection of Henny Savenije, whose own mapsite is stellar.
This Pieter Goos map from the mid-seventeenth century entitled "Oost Indien" displays the Indian Ocean and the surrounding landmasses. Notice how Australia is named "Hollandia Nova," or New Holland. The map's accuracy is comendable for the period.
