Could you maybe tag the postings by decade and country/region?
Done. Great idea.
Maybe two or three maps a day. Maybe an interactive section where you can build your own maps and fight them out in an arena of one on one combat.
How about asking a person that contributes a map picture why this map is so special for taht person, what is the story behind that map for the person. For example, the Alexander map is great; why is the person that shows it so interested in Alexander? Or did he / she get the map during a special event / from a special person? You get te idea.
Good ideas. We'd love to post two or three maps a day, but we are beholden to the whims of those who are generous and kind enough to email us digital images of their maps. We just have not received enough of them to support posting multiple maps a day. Hopefully that will change sometime soon.
We will certainly continue encourage all contributors to include a description of the maps they send. We would also be happy to post why a particular map has meaning for the contributor. But all such content hinges upon the willingness of the contributor; if he or she just sends a map with no details, we will still post it (though we will do some research of our own so that we can at least explain what viewers are seeing).
As for map arena combat, you've read our minds.
